Introduction

As specialists in marine video production and drone videography services in Devon and Cornwall, Different View was commissioned to create an impactful promotional film to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Cattewater Harbour Commissioners (CHC). CHC has been a long-standing client, and over the past four years, we have captured extensive footage of their operations, including marine activities, historic events, and iconic landmarks in and around Plymouth.

Objectives

The primary aim of this project was to produce a promotional film utilising the wealth of footage we had gathered over the years. The film would be used by CHC at key events and on their social media channels to engage their audience and celebrate this significant milestone. Additionally, we were tasked with photographing a special anniversary dinner at The Box in Plymouth and filming the PS Waverley as she toured the Tamar and Plymouth Sound.

Approach

Our team of videographers and drone operators, specialising in marine videography services and drone services in Devon and Cornwall, approached the project with the objective of telling the rich history of CHC. By curating content from the past four years of filming, we created a narrative that highlighted key moments in CHC’s operations and its role in Plymouth’s maritime heritage.

The film combined aerial shots, captured through our drone videography services, with ground-level footage of CHC’s harbour activities, vessels, and historic moments. This provided a comprehensive visual experience that appealed to both maritime professionals and the wider public.

In addition to video production, we utilised our expertise in event photography to document the anniversary dinner held at The Box, capturing key moments and ensuring that the historic celebration was visually preserved.

Results

  • Promotional Film: The final promotional video was well received by CHC and its audience. The video was shared across CHC’s social media platforms and shown at various events, successfully enhancing their marine video marketing efforts.
  • Drone Videography: The footage of the PS Waverley’s tour of the Tamar and Plymouth Sound provided breathtaking aerial perspectives, showcasing the beauty of the region and adding a unique element to the promotional film.
  • Photography: Our professional event photography at The Box ensured that CHC’s celebratory dinner was captured in high-quality images, which were later used in press releases and on social media.
